If you are a member, adherent, or regularly attend Mitchelton Presbyterian Church then you
may have your own free e-mail address of the form yourname@mpc.org.au, where yourname is your first name followed by your last name. What are the advantages of this?

  • It makes it easy for others to remember your e-mail address.
  • If you ever change your Internet service provider (ISP) then you don’t have to change your e-mail address or get others to update their record of your e-mail address.
  • yourname@mpc.org.au can be redirected to more than one destination e-mail address.
  • Each member of your family can have their own e-mail address.

To be given approval your name must be in the printed church directory, or you must be known to the ministry staff.

You must already have Internet access and an e-mail address to which yourname@mpc.org.au can be directed. Misuse of your mpc e-mail address will lead to its cancellation. This service makes use of third party services over which we have no control. We are unable to guarantee fault-free service. Accounts may take a few days to become active.

If you agree to the above terms, then click here to apply for your e-mail address.

More information:

Normally the dialup Internet service provider to whom you subscribe will provide you with your own e-mail address.
Often they will allow you to have several e-mail addresses (or mailboxes) with them. If they do, then your e-mail software can retrieve e-mails independently from each mailbox. So, if you want several family members to have their own e-mail appear in their own mailbox, apply for something@mpc.org.au for each member and have that redirected to your ISP mailbox. Programs like Outlook Express can access multiple accounts (mailboxes) and can also have independent “identities” (see File -> Identities).

If you are happy for each family member to have their mpc e-mail redirected to just one current e-mail address, then you can do that. Just use the same current e-mail address for where each mpc e-mail is to be directed.

If your ISP does not supply multiple mailboxes, then you can apply for a free one at one of several free e-mail providers such as Hotmail or Yahoo! mail. Then redirect your mpc address there.

So that others see your e-mail address as yourname@mpc.org.au you will need to change the settings in your e-mail software.

Once your account is setup you will be able to change the address to which it is redirected at any time yourself. You may do that at this page. You will need to do this, for example, if you do change your ISP. But, as previously mentioned, others will still see your address as yourname@mpc.org.au.

If you are not totally confused by now, then click here to apply for your mpc e-mail address.

To see the e-mail address of other members of the congregation, click here. (This is password protected, to prevent spamming robots from finding the addresses. But the username and password are on the authentication window that pops up. Just in case your browser has difficulty showing that, the username is email and the password is the four letter jewel-name of the road in which the church is situated (use lowercase)).

Chat Mailing List

This is an informal mailing list in which you can send and receive e-mails from others on that list. It is a self-managed list where you control your subscription details. You must first subscribe to the list if you wish to participate. Note that a reply will send your message to all on the list. The list management page is here: http://lists.mpc.org.au/mailman/listinfo/chat
